Mountain lion reportedly preying on pet dogs
State wildlife managers say residents of Coal Creek Canyon northwest of Golden have reported that seven or eight pet dogs have been taken by a mountain lion since November.
KMGH-TV reported Monday that Colorado Parks and Wildlife plans to trap and relocate the lion.
Agency spokeswoman Jennifer Churchill says officers also want to put a radio collar on the animal to track it.
Churchill says officers generally don’t trap lions that kill one or two pets, but they’re concerned this one is attacking dogs instead of its normal prey.
Officials have put up a sign outside a fire station warning that a mountain lion is active in the area.
