Witness: Woman accused of leaving infant on train tracks said the antichrist was going to take her baby
Pueblo Police say a woman was arrested after dropping her baby on some train tracks and then trying to run away.
The incident happened in the area of 29th Street and Lowell Avenue at around 2:15 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2014.
Eduardo Fontes said he was on his way home from band practice when he spotted a woman walking up to the tracks.
“She set it down on the tracks, actually on the rail. It was covered up so I thought maybe this was a doll, there’s no way this could be a real baby,” Fontes said.
The woman, later identified as Jessica Sloan, 31, ran away.
Butch Kiddinger says he saw Sloan hop into the back of his work van, trying to hide.
“I said, what are you doing?” Kiddinger said.
Kiddinger and another man were able to keep Sloan until Pueblo PD arrived.
Kiddinger says Sloan didn’t show much emotion, but did say one thing.
“She said that the Antichrist was going to take her baby,” Kiddinger said.
But Kiddinger says Sloan may have realized what she did was wrong after answering a question from the other unidentified good Samaritan keeping her at the scene.
“He says, you know that’s not right and she says, I know,” Kiddinger said.
Sloan was arrested for this incident and on outstanding warrants.
The baby girl appeared to be okay but was taken to the hospital to be checked out.
