Michael Golembesky’s new mission to honor heroes

A man who served his country for eight years is now serving his community of Manitou Springs. Michael Golembesky was part of the Marsoc team in the Marines. The acronym stands for Marine Corps Special Operations Command. Golembesky told me that he was the guy on the ground in Afghanistan who calls aircraft and tells them where and what to hit.

Marsoc is a relatively new unit for the Marines. It was initiated in 2006. Golembesky explained to me why it’s so unique to the Marines. He said that these are small teams of special operations forces working in remote areas, much like the Rangers and the Navy Seals.

Golembesky has written the first ever official book to highlight the Marsoc heroes he met on the job. It’s called Level Zero Heroes and is due out in September. He told me, “These are the type of individuals who are the absolute best of the best. They represent everything that’s good and great about the U.S. Armed Forces and the Marine Corps.”

After serving his country, Michael didn’t miss a beat to serve his community. He was in the thick of the water and the mud cleanup after the recent floods in Manitou.

Michael Golembesky also donates online to the Marsoc Foundation. It helps Marines and Sailors and their families.
