One person dead, another faces charges in Colorado Springs accident

One person is dead and another faces charges in an accident that happened in Colorado Springs Tuesday night.

Colorado Springs police said a female passenger was ejected and was dead when crews arrived around 11 p.m. Tuesday. It happened near Austin Bluffs Parkway and Beverly Street, police said.

Police said 20-year-old Nicholas Alvarado was the driver of the vehicle. He suffered a broken leg and was taken to the hospital.

But police said that when he’s released, Alvarado will face vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and careless driving.

Police said the car was heading west on Austin Bluffs Parkway when it appears the vehicle went around a bend too fast. The car then hit a curb and rolled over.

Another passenger was treated for minor injuries.
