December death ruled homicide

The death of a man who police say they found unconscious after being called to investigate a fight has been ruled a homicide.

The incident happened on December 30, 2013 at the intersection of Rainier Drive and Royale Drive.

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office tells police that Arthur Garcia, 48, died from acute cardio vascular collapse due to cardio vascular disease. The episode happened during the struggle according to the coroner.

Police say the district attorney’s office is reviewing the investigation to determine if charges will be filed. Everyone who was involved in the fight has been identified and interviewed. No arrests have been made.

There were a total of 31 homicides in Colorado Springs in 2013.
