Senator facing recall petition resigning
A third Democratic state senator facing possible recall after voting for gun-control measures will resign, allowing Democrats to maintain control of the Senate.
Sen. Evie Hudak of Arvada sent the resignation letter Wednesday. Opponents planned to submit signatures next week petitioning Hudak to a recall election. Her resignation means Democrats will appoint a successor and maintain their one-seat advantage.
Two other Democratic senators were ousted from office in September.
Sens. John Morse of Colorado Springs and Angela Giron of Pueblo, were the first recalled state legislators in Colorado history.
