CSPD officer accused of DUI, tampering with evidence charged
Charges have been filed against a Colorado Springs Police Officer who is accused of driving under the influence and then tampering with some of the evidence against him.
Officer David Rosenoff, a nearly 24-year veteran of the force, was cited for careless driving and DUI following an accident at I-25 and Woodmen Road. Officer Rosenoff was off-duty at the time of the crash, which happened at 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2013. No one was hurt.
Police say Officer Rosenoff was served and released before being driven home by the officer who arrested him.
It was after the arresting officer dropped Officer Rosenoff off at home that he discovered the blood sample missing from his vehicle.
A joint investigation between the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit and the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s office was launched and on Monday, November 11, 2013, Officer Rosenoff was arrested.
On Tuesday, November 26, 2013 Police announced that Officer Rosenoff has been officially charged with tampering with physical evidence, driving under the influence and careless driving.
Officer Rosenoff, who is assigned to the Patrol Bureau, is currently on paid administrative leave. He is expected to be placed on unpaid leave very soon now that formal charges have been filed against him.
