Police continue search for serial bank robber
Colorado Springs Police officers are searching for a bank robber. The suspect is believed to be the same man responsible for several others in the area since May.
Investigators say the First Bank branch at 817 Village Center Drive was robbed at 12:23 p.m. on Thursday.
Police say the man walked in, handed the teller a note demanding money, and then ran out of the bank. The man did not appear to be armed, and no one was hurt.
One witness told police that the suspect was nearly hit by a car as he ran out of the bank, across Vindicator Drive and through an apartment complex parking lot.
Police would like to speak to the driver who almost hit the robber, as well as anyone else who may have seen anything suspicious in the area around the time of the robbery.
The robber is a white male, 6’00” tall with a very thin build. He appears to be in his mid-twenties. He has short to medium length blond or light red hair and sideburns. He wore a dark long-sleeved shirt, blue jeans, and a dark ball cap. No vehicle was seen.
The same man is suspected in six other bank robberies in Colorado Springs this summer.
