Charges filed in Colorado Springs Facebook killing

A Colorado Springs man is facing trial on second-degree murder charges in a fatal stabbing that is being blamed on a Facebook dispute.

Judge Scott Sells ruled Thursday that prosecutors have enough evidence to try Elton Lamar Johnson Jr., in the May 7 stabbing death of Juan Carlos Lopez-Herrera.

According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, police say Lopez-Herrera was stabbed after he called one of Johnson’s friends a derogatory name on Facebook. Investigators say Johnson told them he went to Lopez-Herrera’s home, but he said he stabbed the man in self-defense.
