Candlelight memorial planned for Dylan Redwine
Residents plan a candlelight memorial for a 13-year-old boy who was found dead in southwest Colorado after he was reported missing in November.
The memorial for Dylan Redwine will be held Saturday night in nearby Bayfield. Authorities said Thursday they found the remains of the teenager during a search over the past week.
Redwine lived in the Monument area with his mother, Elaine Redwine, but arrived in La Plata County on Nov. 18 for a court-ordered visit in Vallecito with his father, Mark Redwine.
The father says he returned home from running errands Nov. 19 to find Dylan was gone.
In Monument, former classmates say they’re saddened by the latest developments in the 8-month search for Redwine.
“He was such a nice kid and I’m really devastated that someone would do that to him,” said Emily Miller, a fellow student at Lewis-Palmer Middle School.
“It really changed the school when he went missing,” said Miller.
Friends said they hope to honor Redwine’s life with a local memorial but one has not been set as of yet.
