Woman suffers serious head injuries from motorcycle crash

A woman was seriously hurt in a motorcycle crash in Pueblo Saturday night.

The crash happened shortly before 10 p.m. on Pueblo Blvd. near Ivywood Ln.

Police say a motorcycle rider, Tyler Wittrup, tried braking to avoid crashing into a van as the van was turning. The passenger on the motorcycle, Ariel Billings, was thrown from the bike.

The motorcycle did not crash into the van.

Billings was taken to the hospital to treat serious head injuries. She is in critical condition. Wittrup was also taken to the hospital. His injuries were not serious. Police say neither were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

The crash is still under investigation, but police do not believe speed, alcohol and/or drugs were involved.
