Man arrested after short standoff with police
Colorado Springs police made an arrest late Wednesday night after a short standoff at a home on Dublin Boulevard.
Police say they got a call shortly after 7 p.m. about a domestic disturbance.
When police arrived they say they contacted a woman with three kids inside the home.
Police were told a man was on the lower level of the home with a handful of ammunition and that he had access to a weapon.
The woman and her children were safely removed from the home but the man refused to respond to verbal commands from officers.
After about 2 hours, officers located the man. They say he was armed with a 45 caliber handgun and was partially hidden underneath a garden shed in the pack yard of the home.
The suspect, Paul Gilman, was taken to the hospital for treatment from being out in the cold. He was later booked into the Criminal Justice Center. He’s facing several charges.
No serious injuries were reported.
