Much-needed snow forecast for Colorado mountains
The Stormtracker 13 Forecast is calling for much-needed snow to fall across the high country beginning Monday night and continuing through Tuesday.
The San Juan mountains in southwest Colorado are expected to get the most snowfall, with accumulations between 1 and 2 feet by Tuesday.
The rest of the high country, including the Summit ski areas, can expect between 8 and 16 inches through Tuesday.
The falling snow will be coupled with strong winds, creating blowing snow and reduced visibilities. Hazardous travel conditions can be expected. Winter Storm Warning and Winter Weather Advisories will remain in effect through Tuesday, at which point snowfall should begin to dissipate.
Colorado’s snowpack is currently at about 50 to 60 percent of its yearly average.
