Man Dangles Child Over Balcony

A man is arrested after dangling a child over a third floor balcony in the Springs.

Police say it happened at an apartment complex near Bijou and Academy Saturday afternoon.

Police say they were notified of three children in the care of a very intoxicated male.
Upon their arrival, officers did locate a very intoxicated man and three small children in an apartment.

Police say the children were in the care of a responsible adult, but, while officers were about to leave they saw the intoxicated man dangling a three-year-old boy over the third floor balcony railing.

Officers immediately started giving the intoxicated man verbal commands and ran underneath the three-year-old to catch him if necessary.

Other officers ran up to the third floor.

When the man saw the officers, he pulled the child over the railing and into the nearby apartment.

The officers were able to secure the child and subdue the intoxicated male.

Mario Flores, 28, was arrested and charged with Child Abuse and Reckless Endangerment and booked into the El Paso County Jail.

The children were returned to their mother unharmed.
