Widefield Father and Son Accused of Kidnapping Man
El Paso County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested a father and son Thursday, on charges of kidnapping, menacing, conspiracy and assault.
Harry Martin, 44, and his son William Torres, 21, are accused of using a weapon to force an 18-year-old man into their car Wednesday night and then taking him to their home in the 300 block of Fairfax Street in Widefield.
“Evidently, after some events had transpired, they ended up letting him go,” said EPCSO Lt. Jeff Kramer.
Kramer said the teen was forced into the car on the Widefield street where he lives, the 5000 block of Hopkins Drive. The teen sustained minor injuries.
On Thursday afternoon, the EPCSO’s SWAT team helped arrest Martin and Torres, and investigators spent hours searching their home.
“It’s just a shock having all this happen,” said neighbor Brandi Kirk. “They were always nice. I talked to them a couple times, and my kids have gone over to play with his granddaughter.”
The sheriff’s office isn’t commenting on how the suspects knew the alleged victim, or what the motive might have been for the crimes.
