Man arrested, accused of beating girlfriend with hammer
A 24-year-old man was taken into custody Sunday morning after police say he beat his girlfriend with a hammer.
Colorado Springs police responded to the Creekside Apartments just south of the Walmart on Powers Boulevard around 3:45 a.m. to investigate the report of a man carrying a gun and knocking on doors while looking for his girlfriend.
Officers say they determined that 24-year-old Jeffrey Taurianen beat his girlfriend multiple times in the head with a hammer, carried her against her will as she attempted to escape, and menaced her with a handgun.
The victim is in the hospital receiving treatment for her injuries. Her condition is unknown at this time.
