DA rules shooting sword-wielding man justified
The Denver district attorney has ruled that a police officer who was injured by a suspect wielding a sword on a college campus in downtown Denver was justified for killing the man.
District Attorney Mitchell Morrissey said Tuesday that Auraria Campus police officer Robert Burnett was complying with state law when he shot and killed Jeffrey Musick on Nov. 10, after one of the officer’s fingers was almost severed during a confrontation.
Morrissey says Burnett fired his gun to save his life and he is fortunate to have survived.
