Soldier dies in roll-over accident near PPIR

State troopers say a Fort Carson Staff Sergeant has died after a roll-over accident Thursday night.

The accident happened on High Plains View, a washboard road in the Rancho Colorado subdivision near Pikes Peak International Raceway.

According to troopers on scene, it appears speed was a contributing factor not alcohol or drugs.

The victim, 30-year-old David Feaster, was not wearing his seat-belt according to state troopers. Feaster is originally from Georgia but active duty with Fort Carson according to state troopers.

Feaster lost control of the vehicle after leaving the road. He then over-corrected as he was trying to get back on the dirt road, and was ejected when his truck rolled.

Feaster ended up pinned beneath the vehicle and died immediately.

The victim’s 11-year-old son was also in the truck. He was buckled up, and survived the crash relatively unharmed.

He was able to walk to a nearby home to get help. He is now with his mother.

The crash is still under investigation by the Colorado State Patrol.
