UPDATE: Police nab suspected bank robber
The search for a Colorado Springs bank robbery suspect came to an end in Fountain Thursday night.
Police had been searching for a woman accused of robbing the Adams Bank & Trust in the 1300 block of Garden of the Gods Road.
Police say the robbery happened around 12:30 p.m. Thursday. A woman walked into the bank and demanded money. Witnesses saw her leave in an older-model white Ford F150 with blue trim.
Thursday night, a woman by the name Rose Lei, 56, called from a local motel to speak with police in Fountain. from a local motel.
She told police that she was involved in the robbery, and they did find a large amount of cash.
What’s not clear right now is what role her boyfriend may have played. The man told detectives that he gave Rose Lei a ride to the bank earlier today.
He says that he did not learn until later that there may have been a robbery. He has been answering questions for police, and it’s not yet clear if he is a suspect in the case.
Lei has been booked into jail and remains in custody.
