T-Mobile’s hiring

T-Mobile’s technical care center is hiring in Colorado Springs. Operators handle more than one million calls for service each year from cell phone customers with T-Mobile service. 80 full time positions are opening up at the facility at 556 Chapel Hills Drive.

T-Mobile is offering a starting salary of between $13.80 to $17.22 per hour plus benefits. Recruiter DawnAnn Wilmot tells me the company has a rigorous four part assessment to help sift through the applicants to get to people who can multi-task and help customers with their technical needs. Wilmot says about the test, “You are literally managing two different screens on one monitor. That’s the multi-task component . It tests you on how to listen while you see messages pop up on your screen.”

Wilmot says this go around for testing she’s had mostly applicants who are currently working at other call centers. She told me one story about a young woman who was surprised to see who else was hoping to get in on a T-Mobile job. Wilmot said, “I had a young gal who came from another environment and was embarrassed and soft spoken. She pointed behind her and said my boss is here, too. It shows that was are an attractive alternative, right now.”

If you fail this four part assessment to get on with T-Mobile, you can take it again in six months. DawnAnn Wilmot says she gives those who didn’t pass the first time, career advice to help you pass the next time. Wilmot says, “It’s pretty great when people take your advice and they believe and trust you and come back.”
