CEO Of Memorial Health Steps Down
Dr. Larry McEvoy, chief executive officer of Memorial Health System, will step down effective May 4th.
The Board has appointed Chief Financial Officer Mike Scialdone to serve as interim CEO.
Board of Trustees Chairman James P. Moore, PhD, emphasized that Dr. McEvoy’s departure is not performance-related.
“Dr. Larry McEvoy has masterfully led Memorial through what is unquestionably the most challenging time in its 108-year history,” Moore said. “Dr. McEvoy restored an ailing health system to profitability in just a year’s time, and he’s defined the mission, vision and values by which we work today. As a former ER doctor, he never wavered in his focus on patients.”
The Board and Dr. McEvoy have held ongoing discussions concerning the evolving needs of the health system in preparation for a possible transition to University of Colorado Health. Memorial officials say that the CEO role has shifted from one of vision, strategy and planning to one focused on operations.
Scialdone, who has served as a senior health care executive for more than 20 years, will serve as CEO through the transition to UCH, which would be responsible for appointing a permanent leader. Scialdone has served as Memorial’s CFO since November 2008, and he has worked in leadership roles for several large health systems, including Centura and HCA.
