Baby’s Car Birth Surprises Parents
Who’s the boss? Well, in this case it’s the baby. A little girl born on the interstate Monday morning well before her expected arrival.
The Alvarez family said they were almost on Interstate 25 on their way to Memorial Hospital, when little Isabella Nicole decided she was done waiting. So, she was born on the intersection of I-25 and the Martin Luther King Bypass.
Jennifer Alvarez has two other little boys and said the quick birth was a surprise and relief.
“I felt great, actually, as soon as she was out. I felt great. So much relief just having her out,” said Jennifer.
Jennifer and her husband, Ludwig, even managed to capture their baby girl’s first picture moments after being born, and the dashboard is visible right behind her head.
Nurses at Memorial hospital told KRDO NewsChannel13 that it is tough to guess exactly how and when a baby will come.
“Every labor is different for each mom. Regardless of whether it is their first, second, third or so on, everyone is different. Everyone proceeds differently, and babies come when they want to,” said Clinical Nurse Manager Josephine LeMaster.
Ludwig was the man behind the wheel trying to get his wife to the hospital. He said he didn’t have any experience with delivering babies, but that quickly changed.
“Next thing I know the water is breaking and she says the baby is coming out right now, then I start hearing the baby crying and I pull the car over,” said Ludwig Alvarez.
The baby and entire Alvarez family is doing just fine.
