Water Main Project To Close 20th Street Starting Tuesday

Colorado Springs Utilities crews will be replacing a water main underneath 20th Street, between Bijou Street and Platte Avenue.

The project will begin on Tuesday, April 10th and continue through April 20th.

According to CSU, a 6″ diameter cast iron water main will be replaced with a new 8″ diameter HDPE pipe to improve water service reliability in the area. The project is part of Colorado Springs Utilities’ water main replacement and fire flow improvement programs.

The project will close the affected portion of 20th Street in both directions, weekdays, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Motorists who normally use this portion of 20th Street during the hours of construction, should plan alternate routes. Residential, school and business access will still be permitted.

CSU reminds drivers to reduce their speed through construction zones for their safety and the safety of work crews.

Periodic and temporary interruptions in water service are expected. Scheduled, non-emergency interruptions will be communicated to affected customers in advance.
