New Jobs Coming To Pueblo
More than 100 jobs will be coming to Pueblo by the end of the year, Rocla Concrete Tie has announced.
Rocla Concrete Tie has decided to relocate to Pueblo. Construction will begin immediately, and things should be up and running by November.
“This is a great day for Pueblo. We are announcing a new company that is coming to Pueblo,” said Jack Rink with the Pueblo Economic Development Corporation.
The company, Rocla Concrete Tie, manufactures railroad ties
“We have access to the two railroads that this plant will serve,? said Rink.
That access is part of the reason Pueblo was chosen over other cities.
“Pueblo has the materials that we need–cement, sand, also has a good labor market. We did our research. Probably, the most important thing is we got good support from Pueblo Economic Development Corpoeration,” said Rocla President Peter Urguhart.
The company has a few offices across the country, including one in Denver. However, the Denver facility will have to close to make room for the expansion of the light rail system. Urguhart wants the Pueblo plant to open before the Denver one closes in December.
“We are getting to the construction phase and [will be] starting to employ some of the local people towards the end of this year,” said Urguhart.
He said it’s still a little early to apply for a job, but they will have information up on their website when the opening day comes closer.
