Fort Carson Soldier Dies In Suspected DUI Crash
A Fort Carson soldier is killed after rolling his car Sunday morning. Investigators said he may have been driving drunk.
The soldier headed south on South Academy Boulevard at about 1:40 a.m. When he was about to drive past the exit he wanted, according to state troopers. He took a sharp turn onto Westmeadow drive and lost control of his car, officials said. Investigators said the car rolled off the road.
State troopers said the driver was not wearing his seat belt and died at the scene of the crash. Officials said he is a 22-year-old man from Florida, but his name has not yet been released.
The passenger was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but officials said he was not hurt.
Officials said alcohol is a suspected factor, but speed is not.
