UPDATE: Emergency Bridge Repair At I-25 And Fontanero Complete

There was an emergency bridge repair at northbound I-25 at Fontanero Tuesday afternoon.

All lanes of I-25 are open as of 4:00 p.m. Tuesday.

CDOT initially said the repairs could last through rush hour but were able to finish their work before the commute.

According to CDOT, an expansion joint popped out of the right side of the bridge. The joint is a device that is located on either end of the bridge and allows the bridge to move. CDOT says it’s not unusual for this to happen and the joint may have been old or damaged. The right lane of northbound I-25 was closed for a couple of hours while crews made the repairs.
