Texas Dogs Hoping For Colorado Homes

Six dogs saved from squalid conditions in Texas were hoping to find new homes on Saturday. They were up for adoption at a PetSmart in Colorado Springs.

The dogs were among 140 dogs and cats rescued from the Animal Friends Humane Society after allegations of hoarding and abuse.

“Local rescues did what they could, but couldn’t take them all,” said Amanda Evrard.

The San Luis Animal Welfare Society responded to the call for help by offering to take care of six of the dogs: Amos, Andi, Rusty, Tandy, Deitrich and Sylis.

A non-profit rescue group, Tracy’s Dogs, transported them to the San Luis Valley Animal Welfare Society in Colorado.

The remote no-kill shelter holds adoption fairs every Saturday in Colorado Springs and brought them up on Saturday.
