UPDATE: Teller County Sheriff’s Deputy Death Ruled Suicide

Teller County Sheriff’s Officials said one of their deputies was found dead Saturday night.

The Deputy has been identified as Matthew Kennedy and his death has been ruled a suicide.

Officials said the deputy was not on duty at the time and he was found in his home in Woodland Park.

“The 911 caller said that he had shot himself,” said a press release issued Sunday by the Teller County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies say the investigation was initially investigated as a homicide because of the violent nature of Kennedy’s death.
