Robo Glitch: Phone System Malfunction Angers Parents
School district 11 is still dealing with angry parents, after a tech glitch sent out robo calls after midnight on Sunday.
Monday, district spokesperson Devra Ashby explained that the district hires a vendor to take care of their out calling system and the problem was on the vendors end, but that the district was still apologized over the incident.
“The vendor’s code changed which created the glitch in the system. That told the system to send the call out at midnight rather than noon on Sunday,” said Ashby.
Angry parents took to Facebook and said this is not the first time the calling system has been glitchy, but others said it was a simple mistake.
Ashby said the district is currently trying to better develop a do not call list. If a parent wants to be a part of this list they are asked to contact their children’s school. Should a parent be on the do not call list, they would still receive calls if their child is getting a D or lower in a class, if the child missed a class or if there is some sort of emergency at the school.
Officials said they still do not have a time line for when the complete do not call list will be ready, but there is a temporary list available now.
