UPDATE: Two Grass Fires In El Paso County
Several El Paso County Fire Departments are responding to two grass fires in eastern El Paso County.
One fire is in the 3400 block of Fossinger Rd and scanner reports indicate it was initially about 60 acres in size. The other fire is on Weissenfluh Rd and Bellemont Rd and was about 5 acres big.
According to a Southeast Power Association spokesman, Jack Wolfe, both fires have been extinguished. Wolfe says the fires were caused by an electric transmission line that fell because of damage caused by the high winds over the weekend.
Electric crews are working on the downed line, but as far as Southeast Power knows, no one is without power. An earlier report from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said about 1400 customers were initially without power. If any customers are without power they should call the power company to let them know.
Wolfe says the fires did not cause any damage to any property.
