Stranger Approaches Middle School Student
A Colorado Springs middle school student says that a stranger tried to get her into his car as she was walking to school on Monday.
According to Colorado Springs Police, the victim says she was walking west on Saddle Rock Rd near Cambria Ct around 8:15 a.m. when a dark blue vehicle drove towards her. The vehicle made a U-turn to drive alongside her, going south in the northbound lane.
The victim says she stopped to tie her shoe and when she looked up, the car had parked near the curb about 8-10 feet away from her. She said the driver asked her if she wanted a ride to school and she said no. He insisted there was no reason for her to walk when he could give her a ride but she refused and told him she was not getting in his car. The girl says he then opened the driver’s side door and looked like he was going to exit. She reached into her pocket to take out her cell phone and he closed the door and drove off.
The girl was alone at the time and continued to walk to Russell Middle School. She reported the incident to school staff on Tuesday.
The suspect vehicle is a newer, dark-blue-colored 4-door, possibly BMW, unknown license plate; cracked door handle on the driver’s side, rear passenger door; orange and blue colored sticker with the initials “KW” on the rear window.
The suspect was a white or hispanic male in his 40’s; unknown height, possibly 5’8″ (because his head did not come close to the roof); heavy build; no scars, marks, tattoos were visible; unshaven “scruffy” looking; teeth in good condition; wearing a dark blue short sleeve t-shirt, and possibly khaki pants
