Kit’s Legacy

87-year-old Kathryn Kit Grazioli’s church family is grieving over the loss of this special woman. Grazioli was murdered last week. Her burning body was discovered in the Gold Camp Road area of Colorado Springs.

Grazioli went to Faith Presbyterian Church off North Circle. Reverend Tom Trinidad told me he was sad and choked up as most in the congregation were upon learning of Kit’s death. He described the church regular as gracious, generous and encouraging. Kit was a church deacon, Sunday school teacher and a church greeter.

Rev. Trinidad also showed me the seat where she regularly sat for service. Trinidad added that, “not only is the seat empty, but our fellowship is less because of her absence.”

The man accused of murdering Kit Grazioli is 21-year-old Marcus Allen Smith. Rev. Trinidad told me that if Grazioli had a conversation with Smith, she might have told him, “You have a choice here. The things you do now will impact the rest of your life and those around you. You have a responsibility to make good choices.”

A celebration of life for the kind grandmother is Wednesday, 3 p.m. at the Faith Presbyterian Church in Colorado Springs. The address is 1529 North Circle Drive. A candlelight vigil is set for Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m. at the Palmer Park Softball Field.
