Former Colorado Sheriff Accused Of Trading Meth For Sex
Former Arapahoe County Sheriff Patrick J. Sullivan Jr. has been arrested after he was accused of agreeing to provide meth for sex, the sheriff’s office said Tuesday. Sullivan will be charged with unlawful distribution, manufacturing, dispensing or sale of a controlled substance.
A Sheriff spokesman said the investigation into allegations of the criminal activity is continuing, with additional criminal charges anticipated against Sullivan, as well as other suspects. Sullivan, 68, served as the Arapahoe County sheriff from 1984 until his retirement in 2002. Robinson was Sullivan’s undersheriff and became sheriff when Sullivan retired.
Sullivan is being held under a $250,000 bond in the Patrick J. Sullivan Jr. Detention Facility, named in his honor by the Arapahoe County Commissioners in 2002.
Sullivan is the former head of security for Cherry Creek Schools, retiring three years ago. During his tenure he headed a staff of 110 security officers. The school district released a statement regarding Sullivan’s arrest:
On Nov. 29, 2011, we were notified by the Arapahoe County Sheriff?s Office of the arrest of former Arapahoe County Sheriff Pat Sullivan.
Sullivan served as Director of Safety and Security for the Cherry Creek School District from 2002 to the end of the 2007-2008 school year.
After the Columbine tragedy, Sullivan was hired to put into place a district safety and security plan for schools.
?We are absolutely stunned at the news of Mr. Sullivan?s arrest and are fully co-operating the Arapahoe County Sheriff?s Office with their investigation,? said CCSD Superintendent Mary Chesley.
