Man Seriously Hurt In Drunken Driving Crash
Traffic opened back up in all directions at Powers Boulevard and Old Ranch Road Friday morning after a drunken-driving crash.
Police said the driver and passenger are in their 20s.
According to Det. Mike Johns, the passenger was airlifted to Memorial Hospital and suffered serious injuries. The driver was taken to Penrose Hospital by ambulance and was expected to be treated and released.
Firefighters had to extricate both men from the Chevy pickup.
Police said speed and alcohol are likely factors in this crash.
A pole was knocked down after the crash, so traffic lights at the intersection were out for most of Friday morning.
Students and teachers at Pine Creek High School had to take detours to get to the school. Some students said they got out of cars and walked through the closed intersection to get to their classes on time.
