‘Schoolpool’ Program Sets Up Carpools
As the school year gets under way, the city of Colorado Springs is teaming up with Metro Rides to link up families to carpool.
“Schoolpool” has been around for years, but Metro Rides said it planned to do more to promote the program and get more families signed up this year.
Vicki McCann with Metro Rides said the program is free. Interested parents should fill out an application, and then Schoolpool will match up families when it has enough families signed up.
McCann emphasized that the information is confidential and that it is up to parents to decide if and how they want to carpool.
KRDO NEWSCHANNEL 13 spoke with one father who drives 20 minutes to get his children to and from Buena Vista Montessori.
Steve Stepp said his family used to live closer to the school, but they outgrew their home and moved further away.
He said he has been interested in carpooling but has not known where to look for other families that are interested and live nearby.
