President Trump receives warm, enthusiastic welcome Thursday at Peterson AFB
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- President Donald Trump brushed aside his recent impeachment controversy as hundreds of supporters greeted him on his arrival Thursday at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs.
Trump's jet, Air Force One, landed as scheduled, just before 4 p.m., after a brief flyover of the city.
The jet took ten minutes to taxi and park, with a crowd of several hundred people cheering the president on.
It took another ten minutes for Trump to come out of the jet, accompanied by another president: Dana White, of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Trump then took time to greet local and state dignitaries such as Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers, Colorado Governor Jared Polis and Congressmen Doug Lamborn and Scott Tipton.
Finally, Trump walked over and mingled with the crowd before flashing a "thumbs-up" gesture and joining the 20-vehicle motorcade to his rally at The Broadmoor World Arena.
