Mounted Color Guard offers morale rides for Fort Carson families

FORT CARSON, Colo. (KRDO) -- Home can feel pretty small these days with most of us locked in our houses. Thankfully, for families at Fort Carson, they can turn to the horses.

The Fort Carson MCG is helping to boost morale for the families on base. For the next two weeks, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the Mounted Color Guard will spend about two and a half hours on these morale walks.

"Since we're not having the rodeos and the parade like we usually do, this is a really great opportunity for the kids to get out of the house, and [in] their front yards," said Captain Michael Quintana. "A lot of them had sprinklers out and pools set up and everything. It's really a community event, while maintaining that social distance. It's been really really cool. We've planned for the next two weeks at the very least. We're just going to continue moving forward. However the division asks us to support the community, we're going to continue doing that."

Tuesday rides will be through areas south of Gate 1. Thursday rides will be north of Gate 1.
