A Colorado Springs Halloween attraction is raising funds for cancer patients

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO)--A Colorado Springs family is using their Halloween decorations to give back to the community. Cancer research is a cause that's near and dear to both Melody Noller's heart and her husband's.

Melody was first diagnosed with cancer more than 25 years ago, and since then she's made it her mission to give back to the cancer community every chance she gets.

"I've had thyroid cancer, uterine cancer, and ovarian cancer, I am in remission and it was a long hard journey of radiation, chemo all of that," said Noller."I know what it feels like and I want to give people who were in my circumstances extra little help."

While she was constantly giving back to that community one dollar at a time, it wasn't until two years ago when she and her husband started collecting funds during Halloween and Christmas after her mother-in-law passed away from cancer.

"She really loved all the shows and everything that we put into it she got a kick out of it and so we decided that every time we did a show or a haunted house everything would go to the American Cancer Society in her name," said Noller.

In 2022, the family was able to raise around 6 thousand dollars in her honor, and this year the Noller's are trying to surpass that number.

"My husband is a Halloween nut I am a Christmas nut so we kind of go crazy on both of them."

The Nollers do this by hanging festive Halloween lights all around their house, adding an insane amount of scary decorations, and even going as far as hiring real-life people to come out and be part of the celebration.

"Usually you will see Micheal Myers and Jason, Pinhead, Ghost Face, the Nun, Chucky they all come out and their entertain the kiddos and scare them on the weekends," added Noller.

Currently, people can go and visit the Colorado Springs home at 11095 Rockcastle Drive and enjoy the light show entertainment.

Monday through Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on the weekends it's on from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Starting on October 26th the Noller's will expand their Halloween decorations, and allow people inside their haunted house.

Remember that all donations will go towards the American Cancer Society.
