Custer County resident charged with arson after dumping ashes that started wildfire
CUSTER COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- A Custer County resident was charged with 4th-degree arson Friday after allegedly causing a small wildfire.
According to the Custer County Sheriff's Office (CCSO), a resident of the county dumped ashes from their fireplace in the area of Custer County Road 182 and caused t he wildfire.
The sheriff's office did provide specific information as to the size of the fire, just that it was "small."
Wildfires driven by strong winds have plagued southern Colorado over the past two days. On Thursday alone, separate wildfires sparked in Park County, Otero County, and El Paso County.
