Retired Army Colonel accused of driving drunk, killing state trooper enters plea
A retired Army Colonel who is accused of running over and killing a Colorado State Trooper on I-25 north of Colorado Springs was arraigned Monday.
Eric Henderson pleaded not guilty to vehicular homicide, hit and run, tampering with physical evidence, DUI and DUI per se. Three of the charges are felonies and two are misdemeanors.
Prosecutors say Henderson was driving drunk when he hit and killed Trooper Jaimie Jursevics. She was conducting a traffic stop on southbound I-25 in Douglas County when she was hit at around 8:50 p.m. on November 15, 2015.
Jursevics left behind a husband and an eight month old daughter. She had been a trooper since 2011.
Henderson will be in court on May 16. A jury trial has been scheduled for July 25.
