Fort Carson Thanksgivng feast feeds hundreds
It’s an annual tradition with turkey and all the trimmings.
Away from their families for Thanksgiving, hundreds of Fort Carson soldiers got more than a meal Wednesday.
Pvt. Adonijah Wolf is scarfing down mashed potatoes in the mess hall instead of at his kitchen table.
“This is my first Thanksgiving away from home, I mean, it sucks, but they do their best to make up for it,” Wolf said. “This is the coolest thing ever or at least since I’ve been in the army.”
The feast is the vision of head chef, Sgt. 1st Class, Francis Orutt.
“I enjoy cooking,” Orcutt said, “it puts a smile on their face and food in their belly.”
More than 750 soldiers at the mountain post enjoyed the festivities.
