Near record highs to start the work week

TONIGHT:  Mostly clear and cool with low temperatures in the 40s and 50s for most areas, but the high mountain valleys could fall into the 30s.

MONDAY:  Monday will be mostly sunny, breezy, and hot. Near record highs are expected across the region:

Colorado Springs: 88° (Record is 91° in 2018)

Pueblo: 93° (Record is 98 in 2018)

Alamosa: 78° (Record is 84 in 2010)

Showers and thunderstorms will be possible over higher terrain, with a widely scattered threat across Las Animas, Huerfano, Teller and northern El Paso county.

EXTENDED: Clouds and wind will likely increase on Tuesday with spotty showers and thunderstorms possible during the afternoon over and very near to the mountains. Significantly cooler air looks to approaching on Wednesday, and if it manages to slide over the area we would expect scattered showers and thunderstorms to be possible for a couple of days. We’ll likely be cooler too the latter half of next week, just in time for the official start of fall on Thursday, but how much cooler is a little difficult to pin down just yet.
