A traffic accident left a Colorado Springs Officer injured

MGN

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A traffic accident on July 26 involved an officer with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) who was traveling westbound on Dublin Blvd in a marked police cruiser.

The driver of a vehicle traveling eastbound in the same area left his lane of traffic and drove into westbound lanes, striking the police vehicle head-on, said CSPD.

Both drivers were transported to local hospitals with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle was identified as 29-year-old Cole Sherod. He was evaluated and placed into custody for driving under the influence and other traffic-related offenses, according to CSPD.

Due to the nature of the crash, the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Major Crash Team responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation.

Both directions of Dublin Blvd were closed while investigators process the scene. The road is reopened.
