3 cited after brawl in downtown Colorado Springs
Colorado Springs police have yet to reveal what started three fights on a downtown block in the early hours of Thanksgiving morning.
Police said the disturbance began around 12:30 a.m. when a crowd of between 50 and 100 people gathered outside Cowboys nightclub near the intersection of Tejon Street and Pikes Peak Avenue.
“There were a lot of people downtown that night,” said Lt. Patricia Feese. “We’re not sure why.”
Feese said 18 officers responded to break up the fights and restore order, and that officers used pepper spray in the process.
Police cited three people for assault and related offenses.
No one was seriously hurt, police said.
“We had a disturbance downtown on Halloween,” Feese said. “But this is the first time in quite a while that we’ve had a disturbance of this size downtown.
