Man convicted of murder in Security-Widefield shooting
One of three men who was arrested in connection to a deadly shooting in Security-Widefield is now a convicted killer.
A jury found Brian Springsted, 32, guilty of 1st degree murder and conspiracy to commit 1st degree murder. The verdict was handed down on Wednesday, November 26, 2014.
Springsted was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus 16 years.
Springsted and another man, Michael Malory, 59, were accused in the shooting death of Daniel Baird, 37.
The shooting happened at Malory’s home in the 1100 block of Main Street on May 3, 2014.
Malory was arrested the day after the shooting happened. Deputies arrested Springsted near a shopping center at highway 85/87 and Main Street a couple of days later.
The third man who was arrested in connection to this crime was Nathan Varnadore, according to the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
