Remembering victims of 1999 Columbine shooting 23 years later
LITTLETON, Colo. (KRDO) -- Wednesday, April 20, 2022 marks 23 years since two students opened fire in Columbine High School in Littleton, killing thirteen people.
On this day in 1999, twelve students and one teacher died and 23 others were wounded. The two suspects also died by taking their own lives.
In 2021, a survivor of the shooting told KRDO he wants people to remember the victims' names, not the shooters.

To this day, the Columbine shooting ranks as one of the worst mass shootings in U.S. history as well as one of the deadliest instances of school violence.
Since that shooting, Colorado has since implemented the Safe2Tell program, which allows students and others to anonymously report concerns ranging from school safety to mental health.
