Human trafficking growing problem, happening in Southern Colorado
Nearly 40 people in Southern Colorado were arrested this week because of charges related to prostitution. It was part of Operation Cross Country, a nationwide crackdown on human trafficking.
Debbie Manzanares, with the Human Trafficking Task Force of Southern Colorado said human trafficking is a problem in the area.
“It’s definitely prevalent within Denver, and Colorado Springs, and Pueblo and even out on the Western Slope,” she said.
The FBI along with local law enforcement agencies arrested 168 people nationwide, during Operation Cross Country. 29 people were arrested in Pueblo and 10 were arrested in Colorado Springs.
“Making a dent in that industry is huge and letting others know the FBI means business,” Manzanares said.
