Man expected to plead guilty in triple murder
A 31-year-old man suspected of killing a mother and her two young children in a Caon City home is expected to plead guilty.
The Caon City Daily Record reports a motion filed Wednesday states Jaacob Vanwinkle wants to plead guilty to all charges against him, including multiple counts of murder, kidnapping and sexual assault.
Vanwinkle, a sex offender from Indiana, is accused of fatally stabbing 35-year-old Mandy Folsom, 9-year-old Marissa and 5-year-old Mason on March 9. Police were responding to a report of a sexual assault from a teenage girl when they found the bodies. The girl escaped and ran to a neighbor’s home.
Investigators say Folsom and Vanwinkle had broken up two weeks before the murders.
Vanwinkle is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
