Sheriff’s Office: Security-Widefield shooting report unfounded

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office says a report of a shooting in Security-Widefield turned out to be unfounded.

Details are still coming in, but here’s what police tell KRDO.

A man reportedly went to home in the area on Tuesday night (11/26/13), and refused to leave. He also allegedly refused to let any occupants leave.

At some point, someone called police, and reported that 4 people had been shot.

Police responded with a heavy presence, however no one was shot, and no shots where actually fired.

Police then took the man into custody for an outstanding warrant.

Neighbors near Mesa Ridge High School reported heavy law enforcement activity and a helicopter in the area.

The investigation forced the closure of roads in the area of Cardinal Street and Drew Drive.

More details are expected to come soon.
