Obama watch parties held in southern Colorado
More than 150 Pueblo Democrats attended watch parties in support of re-electing President Barack Obama on Thursday night.
At least three parties were held in the Steel City. Two were downtown, at the Obama For America office and the office of the Pueblo County Democratic Party. A third was held at a private residence.
Ron Greenwell, the county’s party chairman, was a volunteer in 2008 when Obama was seeking office. Now, Greenwell hopes to help Obama win a second term and says the president still has unfinished business.
“I think I’m more excited now, than when we first started four years ago,” said Greenwell. “Change doesn’t come by leaps and bounds. It comes slowly and moves forward in small increments. We know Obama still has unfinished business, but most of the criticism of him should be directed at Congress instead.”
Greenwell said Pueblo County specifically, and Colorado generally, will play key roles in the November election because of their large Latino population.
